Landscape Designer
Duties and responsibilities

 
1.
Meet with potential clients to determine their needs, expectations and budget.  Prepare plans which effectively communicate the design concept and define the project scope.  Select and prepare construction documentation as needed to communicate with the craftsmen and contractors in the field.  
 
2.
Observe site conditions which affect the methods and cost of construction. Meet with contractors to review site conditions, project scope and responsibilities. Obtain bids from contractors.  
 
3.
Prepare estimates including obtaining material and equipment costs from suppliers.  
 
4.
Prepare design and construction agreements for the design and construction of projects. Meet with clients to review design and/or construction agreement.  
 
5.
Provide construction oversight and prepare change orders as needed.  
 
6.
Conduct post construction walkthrough with clients. Assist in securing payments, referrals and letters of recommendation.  
 
7.
Maintain aggressive public relations and marketing for the company. Assist in the preparation of portfolios, brochures, presentations, awards, etc.  
 
8.
Prospect for new clients while maintaining existing clients. Qualify prospective clients for project type, quality, and budget.  
 
9.
Participate in industry association events and attend meetings and training sessions to maintain sills in the methods, equipment, procedures, and standards in current use in the landscape industry.  
 
10.
Maintain daily contact with the project manager, clients, and contractors to keep up with the project status.  
 
11.
Attend weekly sales and production meetings.  
 
12.
Determine long and short term professional and personal goals. Set annual sales goals and set up a plan to meet those goals.

 
 

Qualifications

 
1.
Successful completion of a formal landscape design or accredited landscape architecture program.  
 
2.
Thorough knowledge of landscape design principles, construction codes, materials, techniques, and standards.  
 
3.
Proven ability to prepare and complete accurate landscape and hardscape plans and specifications.  
 
4.
Ability to efficiently use computer drafting software such as Dynascape and AutoCAD.  
 
5.
Ability to make presentations to clients and professional associations.  
 
6.
Proven ability to close sales contracts.  
 
7.
Ability to train staff.


 
 

Project Manager
Duties and Responsibilities

 
1.
Coordinate with the designer the proper installation of contracted projects.  
 
2.
Identify all project requirements such as materials, equipment, manpower, special needs, and schedule.  
 
3.
Acquire all materials, through purchase orders, required to complete projects.  
 
4.
Maintain a relationship with government permitting agencies, trade associations, relevant professionals and other similar groups.  
 
5.
Maintain safety on each project by assuring each employee is receiving instruction on the safety practices required by their position.  
 
6.
Maintain quality standards within the specifications of each project.  
 
7.
Assure that the project foreman develops a thorough understanding of the project and contract before each project begins.  
 
8.
Monitor the labor and materials costs for each project and direct foreman accordingly to complete the project on time and on budget.  
 
9.
Coordinate subcontractors and resolve any problems or disputes between subcontractor and designer/client.  
 
10.
Monitor crew requirements such as equipment, manpower, materials and other such requirements for each project.  
 
11.
Hire Forman, laborers, operators, and other employees per company hiring procedures.  
 
12.
Submit and maintain all records and reports required by each project and the division in an accurate and timely manner, and direct Forman to submit their reports in the same accurate and timely manner.  
 
13..
Assure project foreman are identifying any changes which may result in change orders or changes of conditions and immediately notifying the Designer.
 
 
14.
Assure the project foreman follow all company policies.  
 
15.
Monitor and maintain pricing information on materials within estimating software.

 
 

Qualifications

 
1.
Extensive knowledge of landscape construction techniques and plant materials.  
 
2.
Extensive knowledge of construction techniques.  
 
3.
The ability to read and understand blueprints.  
 
4.
Knowledge of proper equipment operation and maintenance.  
 
5.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
 
6.
Excellent interpersonal skills.  
 
7.
Excellent Supervisory skills.  
 
8.
Proven track record as project manager or landscape construction foreman.  
 
9.
Bilingual a plus but not necessary.


 
 

Laborer
Duties and responsibilities

 
1.
Provide the necessary support and physical labor required to construct projects in a proper, efficient and safe manner.  
 
2.
Complete tasks as assigned and as instructed by the project foreman.  
 
3.
Maintain company quality standards.

 
 

Qualifications

 
1.
Physical ability to lift heavy weights and repeatedly perform heavy strenuous work.  
 
2.
Current Maryland driver’s license and reliable transportation.  
 
3.
Good work ethic.  
 
4.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.  
 
5.
Ability to learn landscape construction techniques and plant materials.  
 
6.
Ability to comply with construction and safety practices.
